How does an individual move within a collective that has a gravity of its own? Is the group a sum of individuals, or a force that reshapes them? This project explores collective behavior through the movement of starling flocks. In murmurations, thousands of birds coordinate in real time, forming fluid structures without leaders or central control. Complex, shifting forms emerge from simple local interactions — separation, alignment, and cohesion. The project is based on the Boids model, a computational framework for simulating flocking behavior. Here, each individual follows a small set of local rules, reducing a living phenomenon to parameters. Instinct is translated into data, and movement into measurable forces, revealing how collective motion emerges without global awareness or direction. Designed, built, and fully coded independently from scratch using LLM-assisted development workflows, without external developers. In collaboration with Adi Grinshpan.
